Once they track down Spider-Man, a ruckus ensues until they both eventually realize that neither party was interested in attacking the other. They then join forces and defeat Egghead. Spider-Man does not leave on great terms with Giant Man and the Wasp, but they're at least closer to allies then enemies.

Fallen Son: Spider-Man
(FB) During a battle with the Rhino, Spider-Man recalls an occasion when Captain America helped him in a fight against the Hulk. Spider-Man describes this as being "like the first or second time I went up against the Hulk...". The scene takes place in New York City, so it isn't referencing his encounter with the Hulk in Amazing Spider-Man #14 which took place in New Mexico. It also appears to be an early encounter between Spider-Man and Captain America, since Spidey gushes over Cap's praise and refers to himself as a 'nobody.'

The blogger, named Vanna, held a vendetta against the web-slinger and swore that over the years, he stalked her since Spider-Man always seemed to fight crime at places she attended. Spidey also failed to catch the Vulture that day at his high school.

In order to exact revenge upon the Avengers, Kang decides he wants to send a robot back in time defeat them. But not just any robot, Kang has been tracking Spider-Man from the future and he's marveled at the web-slinger's abilities. Most importantly however, is the fact that Spider-Man is a loner, he did not want to send a group because they could end up in-fighting. After helping the Avengers fight some crooks, robo-Spidey asks to join the Avengers, ultimately they turn him down. Before long, robo-Spidey has the entire Avengers team trying to fight him at the Temple of Tirod in Mexico (which is where robo-Spidey said Iron Man was being held captive). Not long after, the real Spider-Man arrives, he'd been tracking robo-Spidey since he arrived on the scene, trying to figure out what the robot was trying to do. Eventually the real Spider-Man defeats the robot, as the Avengers deduce that the mastermind behind the robo-Spidey was Kang. Interestingly, the real Spider-Man never actually interacts with the Avengers in this story.

In this story, Cap helps Spider-Man defeat Electro and then the two share a heart-to-heart conversation. Captain America essentially profiles Spider-Man, deducing facts about Spider-Man life's by observing his behavior and technology. For instance, Cap suggests that Spidey's alter ego is most likely who doesn't fit in with the regular crowd in school. Their conversation goes very well though, and Captain America's main reason for tracking Spidey down that day was to confirm that the web-slinger is in the super hero business for the right reasons. They shake hands and share a laugh, then, as quickly as he arrived, Cap heads out to fight alongside the Avengers.

Collectively mourning the loss of the Torch, each remaining member of the team shares a memory that connects Spider-Man and the Human Torch. The first is shared by The Thing, who recalls a time when Spider-Man, alongside the Fantastic Four, battled a monster called Krakatoom in the woods of upstate New York. Spidey and the Torch bond over a series of pranks they pull on each other and then they bond even moreso when they pull a prank Grimm. And, yes, together Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four defeat Krakatoom. By Grimm's description, this memory most likely took place when Johnny and Peter were young, perhaps even while Peter was still in high school. Grimm specifically refers to them as teenagers. Thus the reason for this flashback being listed around the time Peter was still young and in high school.

Collectively mourning the loss of the Torch, each remaining member of the team shares a memory that connects Spider-Man and the Human Torch. The second of these memories is shared by Sue Richards. Sue tells the story of when she, Peter and Johnny battled the Frightful Four (although this story only depicts three villains, Wizard, Trapster and the Beetle). Sue uses her invisible powers to embarrass the Wizard by exposing his underwear, ultimately leading to her getting arrested after they defeat the villains. There's no obvious place to put this flashback, however, it is mentioned that Paste Pot Pete has recently changed his name to Trapster. That occurred in Fantastic Four #38, which would have been around the time of Amazing Spider-Man #25. So this story clearly must take place some time after that.

Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four (Vol. 2) #1
Spider-Man teams up with the Fantastic Four when the Sub-Mariner launches an attack on Dr. Doom! The placement of this retconned story at this point in the chronology is based on four pieces of evidence. First, Johnny Storm references the FF team up with Daredevil against Dr. Doom in Fantastic Four #39, saying that this story takes place one month after that event. Second, Dorrie Evans and Johnny Storm are in the process of breaking up at this point, so it must take place after Fantastic Four #38. Third, Peter Parker is getting a lot grief from Gwen and the other students at ESU for being stuck up, which puts it after Amazing Spider-Man #34. Four, when Spider-Man approaches the Fantastic Four, he makes a flip remark about Sue Richards (basically asking if she's available). Johnny tells him that she's engaged, which places this story before Fantastic Four Annual #3. Of course, this creates a bit of discontinuity as well, since Spider-Man should certainly be aware that Sue and Reed are engaged, he stole a piece of cake from their party!

When their class is over, Peter calls out Harry for picking on him saying, "you've been on my case since practically the first day of class." Gwen tries to encourage Harry to be a better person. As far as placing this flashback, we know that Harry was giving Peter a hard time on the first and second day of classes at ESU (as seen in Amazing Spider-Man #31). From Peter's words and tone in this scene, its clear that Harry continued that verbal abuse for at least a week or so more. So this flashback is placed a short time after Amazing Spider-Man #31, but not too long after their first meeting. Thus, it fits best in the middle of Amazing Spider-Man #34, whilst Peter is once again in science class with Harry and Gwen.

Despite the Masked Marauder escaping, TV news broadcasts Spidey's heroic efforts. Matt Murdock, Foggy Nelson and Karen Page watch the news and debate as to who is a more worthy hero, Spider-Man or Daredevil. Meanwhile, the Masked Marauder concocts a scheme to finally defeat Spider-Man, he forces his gang members to impersonate Daredevil and sends them out on the streets to cause trouble. That way Spider-Man would be preoccupied battling "Daredevil" and not the Marauder. The evil genius' plan works to some extent when Spider-Man finds himself attacked by a "Daredevil" that manages to escape the web-slinger. Meanwhile, Matt Murdock decides its time to don the Daredevil costume and go looking for the Marauder. When Spidey confronts the real Daredevil, he attacks in retaliation for impersonator's attack on him. The real Daredevil is confused and forced to defend himself. The slug-fest by the two heroes is caught by the police and becomes news. The Marauder realizes its time to make his move. Daredevil eventually bests Spidey and leaves him tied to a post atop a building. The Masked Marauder is able to steal the XB-390 Engine from the World Motors Center. The next day, the web-slinger goes searching for Daredevil throughout the city using his Spider-sense. He's eventually drawn to the offices of Murdock and Nelson, where he finds three people there talking. He deduces that Foggy Nelson is the Daredevil (since it can't be the woman or the blind man in the office), so Spider-Man crashes in through the window and threatens Foggy Nelson!

Spider-Man leaves Murdock's office, convinced that if Foggy is Daredevil he'll follow him out. Murdock then realizes how to trap the Marauder and leaves his office as the Daredevil. He pays a visit to J. Jonah Jameson and convinces the newsman to go on TV and say that Marauder (and Spidey as his accomplice) forgot to steal the formula for fueling, thus making the XB-390 steal worthless. Daredevil is convinced this will bring the Marauder out of hiding. It works as the villain watches Jameson on TV and realizes he must go back to finish the job. Spider-Man catches the news broadcast as well and soon he spots Daredevil en route to the World Motors Center. After the two trade blows for a second time, they spot the Marauder in a phoney World Motors blimp. Spider-Man single-handedly takes down the Marauder's whole crew but then is blinded by the villain's Opti-Blast. The Marauder tries the same thing on Daredevil but it has no effect on the blind hero (obviously)! Eventually the Daredevil subdues the Marauder and destroys his blimp just as the authorities arrive. The Marauder manages to escape by pretending to be a police officer and unfortunately for Spider-Man the authorities still believe he was in cahoots with the Masked Marauder. They give all the credit to Daredevil. Spider-Man and Daredevil do not reconvene, and Spider-Man leaves aware that the authorities conflate him with the Masked Marauder.

Peter Parker: Spider-Man (Vol. 2) #36
[Pgs. 6 - 10] (FB) During a flashback sequence, P.I. Billy Fender recalls the first time he saw Spider-Man in person. It occurred when the Rhino was tearing through the city, smashing into cars and being chased by police. Spider-Man swooped in from high above and gave chase to the rampaging villain. It is clear that this is an early-ish Spider-Man appearance and an early Rhino appearance, otherwise it is difficult to know exactly where to put this flashback. It is entirely possible that this havoc-causing scene can be viewed as the instance from Amazing Spider-Man #43, just before Peter changed into Spider-Man whilst 'observing' the adventure on his date with MJ.

Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #27
Spider-Man makes a brief appearance in this story when he intervenes during a bank robbery. Two X-Men, Iceman and the Beast, witness the robbery when they're in public in their civilian identities. But by the time they're able to change into their X-Men costumes, Spider-Man had already nabbed the criminals (and taken photos!). Professor X telepathically connects to Hank and tells him to ask Spider-Man to join the X-Men. Hank complies and asks Spidey, and the web-slinger flat out refuses. He even makes a snarky comment about how he just went through this with the Avengers recently (referring to Amazing Spider-Man Annual #3). Spidey swings off and says he'll fill them in on the reasons why later. Spider-Man then thinks to himself that it would be great to team up with heroes that are close in age to him, but that fate has made him a loner. Interestingly, the Beast and Iceman wonder to themselves why Spider-Man was taking pictures of the criminals (apparently no one else in the crowd saw Spider-Man do that, except the two X-Men).

Marvel Heartbreakers (Story 1)
While on campus at ESU, Peter has a moment of panic when both Gwen and Mary Jane are hot under the collar and headed his way. To avoid both the ladies, he jumps into the air conditioning ducts. MJ and Gwen end up coming face to face and after a brief exchange of snarky comments, the two have a brief discussion. Gwen is upset because someone stole her notes from Chem class and MJ's drama class has her rehearsing at the ESU theatre. While crawling through the vents Peter hears Susan Monaghan and Daisy Lynch, two supposedly terrible students, talking from within the chemistry lab. It becomes clear they were the ones who stole Gwen's notes. Peter knows that the mixture they're concocting will explode, but in his attempt to stop them he falls through the duct and onto a table (with a fishbowl)...when he stands up he's basically disguised as Mysterio! This scares the two girls from the lab, but their concoction comes to life (a slight tribute to the infamous Miller-Urey experiment)! Swapping over to his Spider-Man costume, Peter tosses the living green concoction into the centrifuge and webs the door of the centrifuge to the door of the lab to keep it secured. Unfortunately for Gwen, when she opens the lab door she's covered in goo from the exploded (former) living concoction! The introduction to this story says "Gwen Stacy repeatedly offered to help Peter Parker catch up on some college lab work...with little success until now." This could be a reference to the scene in Amazing Spider-Man #44 when Gwen offers to help Peter get caught up on what he missed in lab that day. Incidentally, that issue also depicts the first meeting of Gwen Stacy and MJ Watson. It's possible that early on in their relationship Gwen and MJ were somewhat aggressive and competitive with each other, so this could help fit this retconned story at some point not too long after Amazing Spider-Man #44.

Peter Parker, alongside MJ Watson, makes a brief appearance whilst attending the Metro and ESU football game. He appears to be at the game on assignment by the Daily Bugle (because he has his camera with him), but he also seems to have made that assignment into a date with MJ (since she is with him at the stadium). They both witness the sudden appearance of the Inhumans, Crystal and Lockjaw, who arrive without explanation on the 50 yard line of the football game!
