In this issue, Tom DeFalco finally begins drawing like he ought to. He clings on like a small child to his beloved "Black Tarantula vs. the Rose" storyline, but in this issue, he brings in some major players.
The story focuses mainly on Max Dillon, better known as Electro! We get a glimpse at his past, as he prepares to attempt to have his powers returned to him. Also, we learn that the Rose is actually under the employment of Hydra big-shot Fortunato!
As the process goes underway, ultimately restoring Max to his villainous self, we are treated to occasional glipses of other characters. These are what truly makes this book special. We see the Dragonfly from last issue (not that special), Phil Urich, the former Green Goblin, and the much-hated Alison Mongrain, the abducter of young May Parker! Could a triumphant return be in the works? Cross your fingers, Spider-Fans!
General Comments
Although the Spider-action is minimal, the cameos set this book apart. It's
great to see Phil Urich and Peter possibly developing a friendship.
Even more welcome that the superior writing, however, is a change in artists!
Steve Skroce has left for the moment, leaving his pencilling duties on the desk
of the capable Joe Bennett, of Spidey Unlimited fame. The art has been better in
recent Unlimiteds, but I'll be happy with what I got!
