Story 'The Green Goblin Lives Again!'

Bringing Mary Jane back to his place after a date, Peter hands her the key to unlock the door. Suddenly his spider sense flares. He pulls her away as an explosion rips apart the apartment he shares with Harry Osborn. Visiting M.J. in the hospital later, Peter has a flash-back of memory, to that horrible moment when the Green Goblin killed Gwen Stacy in an attempt to get at him. He reluctantly edges toward the truth he is afraid to admit: "Norman Osborn's dead and buried, but somehow ... I know the Green Goblin is still alive." Going to the warehouse where the elder Osborn met his death, Spider-Man slings a hammock and waits.

When the Green Goblin finally does appear, Spider-Man is unprepared for the speed of his attack or the depth of his hatred. The Goblin cannot be reasoned with, even when Spider-Man calls him by name. "I know the shock of your dad's death was a strain on you, Harry -- but you've got to face facts! Norman Osborn was a crook and a murderer -- and if you keep this up -- you'll turn into one too!"

"You blind fool," Harry snarls back as the goblin glider circles on auto-pilot around the struggling pair. "You're like all the rest, condemning a man because he was better than you! But you'll learn when the Goblin has crushed your will entirely ... who was the Master -- and who, the pawn!"

Beginning to feel dizzy, Spider-Man too late realizes the goblin glider's thick exhaust contained a drug. "So it ends," says the new Green Goblin as Spider-Man slumps to the ground. He plans on destroying Spider-Man using the voltage in his special gloves. Inexperience, however, has caused Harry to use up all his stored electrical power in the fight. "You have a reprieve, wall-crawler ... But only a temporary one. For I promise you this: if it's the last act I perform -- I'll destroy you utterly, whether it be physically, by killing you -- or spiritually, by revealing your precious secret identity! One way or the other, this will be the end of Spider-Man! And it will be up to you to wait and wonder--just when that end will come!" Too groggy to stop him, Spider-Man watches helplessly as the Green Goblin disappears into the night sky.
