Ultimate Avengers Sticker Book Collection

Background

Dorling Kindersley or DK Publishing, Inc. for short are a creators of many recent sticker/activity books featuring Marvel in general and Spider-Man frequently in specific.

They have developed a standard format of a U.S. magazine-sized (8.5" x 11") square-bound, soft-cover book with a few pages of stickers, with the non-sticker pages consisting of shadow-outlined space for the featured character sticker to be place, all annotated with mini-facts and short informational sentences.

But while that magazine size is their standard dimensions, they do occasionally get creative. Take this product for example.

Story Details

This sticker book collection is a cardboard box (7.1" x 5.8" x 1") with a plastic carry-handle on top.

Inside are four small staple-bound "mini-me" versions of the standard big brother. Each of the four is 5.2" x 6.8" and contains 8 pages of standard page content, plus 4 pages-worth of stickers (each of which are blank on the reverse side making technically 16 pages per book in total).

Other than that reduction in dimensions and page count, these books are identical in construction to their full-sized equivalents.

Spider-Man appears as a full-fledged character in the "Avengers All" book. In "Avengers Foes" and "Meet the Avengers" he has only a brief cameo, while being completely absent in "Avengers Assemble!"

Note that all four of these books exist separately as full-sized products: Avengers Assemble! (Ultimate Sticker Book, DK), Avengers Foes (Ultimate Sticker Book, DK), Avengers All (Ultimate Sticker Book, DK), and Meet The Avengers (Ultimate Sticker Book, DK).

Strangely though, these cut-down mini-editions appeared in 2013, whereas the full-sized versions didn't get published until 2014.

General Comments

I've already said many-a-time that I think these DK products are well-designed, attractive, and high-quality.

Perhaps this little boxed set isn't particularly cheap with an RRP of £11.96 back in 2013. But I feel that's not unreasonable given the presentation and the construction that I can see in this format.

Overall Rating

DK is reliably good, and this is no exception.
