Marvel Adventures Spider-Man #34 (Story 2)

Background

The silly, goofy Mini Marvel stories cartoons of Chris Giarrusso have been appearing at the back of Marvel comics for years. These shorts tend to be one-page adventures of the Marvel superheroes done up as if they were little superhero kids in costume. They are, as a rule, always falling-down funny this one is no exception.

style suits of armor. In this installment Iron Man is talking to fellow Avengers Spider-Man, Storm, Wolverine, and Captain America about his repair of Hawkeye's armor. Iron Man indicates that of all of them, Hawkeye needs the armor most because he is the only one without any superpowers.

Cap (vainly) tries to point out that he has no superpowers either, but Iron Man reminds everyone that Cap was injected with a Super Soldier formula, so that the star on his chest might as well be an asterisk (whereupon Wolverine paints an asterisk on Cap's chest.

Spidey (in his Iron Spider suit) tells the Golden Avenger that Hawk is at a football game in which he is playing. The final panel of the strip shows an armored Hawkeye

General Comments

This is but a single page of a longer story that has been running in numerous Marvel titles this month. Needless to say, it is still pretty funny. All of the characters are portrayed as wearing armored versions of their regular costumes as a totally vain Iron Man continues to explain to everyone that will listen they will be better off in a costume constructed of armor similar to his.

Overall Rating

These vignettes are short, funny, and highly entertaining. They should totally appear more often. Since this is just a single page of a longer story which appeared in numerous other Marvel titles, the casual reader might be a touch confused by it.
