Marvel Annual (UK)

This is where the Marvel UK Hardback Annuals began, in 1967.

At first they were rather erratic. The first issue was a "Marvel Story Book Annual" in 1967 which contained original text stories, an exception in a title which subsequently was nearly exclusively reprint material. Two years later a second annual appeared as "Marvel Comic Annual 1969" with reprints in B&W and monochrome.

There was then a long gap before reappearing as simply "Marvel Annual" for three years in 1974, 1975, 1976.

Of the five books shown here, all were published/distributed by "World Distributors" except for the 1974 release branded "Fleetway Publications".

In the following years this title changed name and publisher several times, becoming:

• In 1977-1979 becomes Mighty World of Marvel Annual (UK). Same format, also published by World Distributors.
• In 1979-1991 becomes Marvel Super Heroes Annual (UK). New format, new publishers.
• After a long break, becomes Marvel Heroes Annual (UK). New format, full-colour, published by Panini.
