Fleer/Skybox really did go a little crazy in 1997, as they flailed around in their attempt to get as much Spider-Man trading card product out of the door. Alongside their super-cheap, low-quality mismash 99c-per-pack 1997 Spider-Man Fleer Pre-Priced effort, there was also this bizarre 50-card partial reprint of their 1995 Fleer Ultra Spider-Man from two years earlier.
One of the reprinted cards is from the "Masterpieces" chase set, but with plain card instead of reflective. The others are all selected from the 150 base cards of the original set. The design is identical to the original release, the only difference being in the card numbering, and in the copyright information where "© 1995 Fleer Entertainment Group, Inc." is now "© 1997 Fleer/Skybox International".
This is the one and only time I know of a Spider-Man trading card set being "reprinted" in this way, and frankly I think this was a pretty dishonest way for Fleer to behave. There is no warning on the sealed pack (nor the box) to advise the buyer that they are just about to hand over good money for the exact same thing they already bought two years ago.
Five cards per pack.
