Venom: Along Came A Spider #3 (Story 1)

Background

Venom was concerned about the welfare of his ex-wife, Anne Weying, after the first symbiote invasion. She was being used as bait by the NYPD to draw him out, which succeeded. Ben Reilly learned about the SWAT team and chaos at a police station that was holding Anne Weying. He put two and two together and arrived to help her.

Ben got his butt handed to him by Venom and Anne reluctantly supported her ex. He was forced to run after detective Steen used the police loudspeaker, as loud noise is one of the symbiote's weaknesses. Anne was arrested for aiding her ex-husband and Spider-Man was told that he was vulnerable to being arrested, too. He left, and Anne used her one phone call to call Eddie. She told him to stay away from her and he sent the symbiote across the phone line to the police station. It bonded to her and Ben saw it on TV.

Story 'Cut to the Chase'

The symbiote told Anne that Eddie wanted to meet them at Thrill World, Eddie's favorite (abandoned) amusement park. She fled the police station and made her way to Thrill World. Spider-Man followed her there. Eddie made his way there via the sewer, which was much more difficult without the symbiote. He came to the surface and hailed a taxi, whose driver smelled him and said he better tip well. When they got to the destination Eddie only had 27 cents and the driver called over a nearby cop. The police were distracted by a radio report of a She-Venom escaping from a police precinct and Eddie took the opportunity to steal one of the cops motorcycles.

She-Venom arrived at Thrill World, not knowing that the D.E.A. was there on a sting for a gang called LD-50. Eddie, on the cop's motorcycle, began to develop withdrawal from the symbiote. Detectives Steen and Clark heard about Eddie stealing the motorcycle and went after him. She-Venom began tearing apart the House of Horrors and eventually found a hatch that led beneath the fun house. Hidden there was LD-50, led by a living thesaurus of a man. Neither she or the leader were impressed by each other and she was soon spitting bullets back at him. By now, she was the one saying that she was going to eat their brains.

Eddie arrived but was scorched by one of LD-50s guards, who had a flame thrower. She-Venom screamed in panic after seeing Eddie.

General Comments

It's a bland, boring, stupid story with bad art.
