Background

This is another Marvel Heroes coloring book from UK publisher "Alligator Books" in 2006.

Story Details

This book is magazine sized, at 8.25 x 10.75". It has a soft cardboard cover, and contains 192 pages of clean white paper stock. Interior art is entirely black and white.

As the name suggests, much of the book is given over to simple coloring pages. There is also a mix of join-the-dots, along with a few mazes, find-a-words and other puzzles.

General Comments

Like many modern licensed books, the artwork has clearly been digitized from comic books – mostly Ultimate Spider-Man, though other sources are also present. The images have been cleaned up on a computer, removing the coloring to leave only the line art.

Overall Rating

This book is relatively cheap, at £3.99 for a 192 pages of tightly-bound clean white paper with a glossy cover.

However, increasing the page count is never going to change the fact that the art work on those pages is a degraded product which has less visual appeal than the original colored source, and is also inferior to what would result from purpose-drawn line art.

Two webs.
