Venom: Lethal Protector

This is the first of many of the Venom Limited Series' that were so representative of the 1990's comics market. The Limited Series model allowed for an endless stream of "Collectors Edition NUMBER ONE" issues. The stories themselves were truly ghastly, yet were popular among the lowest common denominator of fan boys.

The first issue featured a red laser foil etched cover, and was also available in a gold laser-etched variant. An error in the printing process produced a handful of "black" variants. These are effectively "red foil" covers where the foil has not stuck properly, and has peeled off, as shown in this image:

There is also supposedly at least one "white" copy in existence, which is believed to be the product of a similar printing error on a gold foil variant.
