Despite the fact that Amazing Spider-Man ships three times per month, Marvel continue to experiment with new ways to get additional Spider-Man content into print. This is nothing new. Anthology titles have been around for years, from Spider-Man Unlimited to Webspinners Tales of Spider-Man to Spider-Man Unlimited (Vol. 3) to the more recent Amazing Spider-Man Family. Amazing Spider-Man: Extra was a short-lived title collating additional in-continuity stories set in the mainstream Marvel universe. The tales here take place around the issues of Amazing Spider-Man that were published at the same time.
