1997 Marvel Overpower Monumental
This was the fifth Marvel OverPower set (excluding promos), released mid-1997. The cards were the woven texture, and the copyright information was "© 1997 Marvel. Distributed by Fleer." Set contained 289 cards. It introduced 16 "team characters" and reprinted 6 previous promotional characters (Post, Onslaught, Apocalypse, Dark Beast, Adam Warlock, and Doppelganger).
It gave new specials to some existing characters, added two new missions, and increased the event count per mission from 5 to 6. It released new art for power cards, and introduced Double Shot cards. The range/variety of Ally and Teamwork cards was expanded. Sold in 65-card random decks and 15-card booster packs. Mission cards were available only in the decks.
Spider-Man didn't feature heavily in this deck as a character but he, Venom, and Carnage were referenced a number of times as indicated.
