In the Colorado desert, the Lizard is on the loose. Meanwhile, back at the vault, a chap named Garrison is being primed as 'Warrant' - some costumed bounty hunter - to bring in the Lizard dead or alive.
Pete has gone to the Bugle to see if there are any jobs going. Jonah is still mad at Robbie for letting Betty's story through about his wife. Pete is waiting outside but a fax comes through about the Lizard's escape. He dashes off as Spider-Man.
Deep in Texas, the Lizard jumps into the back of a lorry. Back in NYC, Pete has gone to see Curt's wife and Billy - he leaves Billy a tracer to contact him by if necessary (didn't know they work like that?). As he swings away, Spidey feels the tracer calling him and goes back to Curt's where Warrant is demanding to know where Curt is.
Spidey gets clobbered and Warrant makes off with Billy. Meanwhile, Lizard has made his way to Florida.
I'm still not sure about the other costumed heroes who keep popping up in the books - it's Warrant on this occasion. I'm also not 100% sure about how the tracers work, although I suppose it's no great jump in logic that Peter could have tweaked them to act as a calling device.
Starts OK - which is a surprise considering who's writing it. Still part two could be a disaster yet...
