We're right into the action with a weak-ass battle between Spidey and Killer Shrike. Even Spider-Man admits he has no idea why they're fighting, which pretty much sums up the readers' perspective too.
Pete is on the street and runs into a very-different looking Betty Brant/Leeds. She kisses him (Pete's very surprised!), then they go to dinner! She tells him she's been working undercover for the Bugle in the last few months, hence the new look. She explains she kissed him so she wouldn't be seen. She tells Pete to tell Jonah to get the FBI – she's onto something big.
Suddenly the windows implode. Two guys – one in green (Pulse), one in purple (Whisper), burst in and try to take Betty. After a llllooooooonnnnnnnggggggg fight, Spidey whisks Betty to safety but Betty isn't pleased and says she just wants to do things by herself. She also lets slip she knows Foreigner killed Ned.
We're only half way through the two-part arc, so we can't get two judgemental yet. The HELL we can't! I've seen federal nutritional information labels with more plot than this. And as for what the hell has been done to Betty Brant? AAARGH!
Whatever happened to death before dishonor?
