Scholastic Australia has a licence to produce Marvel (including Spider-Man) Colouring & Activity books for the New Zealand/Australia market, and they've been using it with gusto since 2011.
This review covers two books in identical format:
Both books are physically identical, being 8.5" x 10.6", with a glossy square-bound cover. Inside are eight sheets of full-colour stickers, and 112 pages of black and white printed activities and colouring pages.
Many of the stickers are rather small (less than 0.5" x 0.5") and definitely repetitive. But that's not surprising. If you're going to fit 2000 stickers on eight pages, something's gotta give.
Unsurprisingly, the artwork in both books is basically yet another re-hash of the same tired old collection of art that Scholastic has been re-re-re-re-cycling for the last five years. To be fair, a few of the "activities" have been tweaked to become "sticker-based activities". So instead of "find the odd-one out", it's "put an [X] sticker next to the odd one out".
Flog that dead horse, Scholastic! You flog it hard!
The sole redeeming feature of these books is how much you get for your money. I bought these for NZ$6 each at K-Mart. That's around $4 each in U.S. Dollars. For eight sticker sheets and 112 colouring activity pages in a decent quality presentation. Who cares if the material is being regurgitated for the seventeenth time?
I can't give less than Three Webs. No matter how tired and old these stuff is, if your kid hasn't seen it yet, this is too good a bargain to turn down!
