Background

Bendon Publishing International, Inc. has produced a swag of Spidey coloring & activity pads. Frankly, the novelty has worn off for me with these things. This latest batch is a couple of nearly identical "Giant Coloring & Activity Pads".

We'll give 'em a look over, because that's what we do around here.

Story Details

I'm not particularly convinced about the "Giant" thing, since these pads are only 5.25" x 7.75". That's about half the profile of a regular magazine-sized coloring book. So, minus points immediately for a little bit of creative license in the naming.

Mind you, there are 128 pages in the package. Square bound at the top, soft card. Inside are the aforementioned 64-leaves of cheap-grade newsprint.

On the pages are the regular mix of word games, coloring pages, mazes, code-breakers, and such-like. Many of the puzzles and games appear identical in the two different variants, while some are different... or at least are moved around within the pages so that I couldn't easily spot the double-ups.

General Comments

So let's see. There's a generic mix of content pretty similar to (if not actually identical to) all the other books published by these guys. The paper isn't that great, and the small profile makes them less impressive, although perhaps a little easier to carry around.

And for this, the RRP is... what the heck? US $1.00?

That must be a misprint, surely? What can you get for a buck these days? A couple of bananas? A can of chilled Diet Coke? Two days of iPhone assembly on a production line in China?

Overall Rating

Sure, it's a bit crap. But it's just one dollar! One. Dollar. I counted them. Twice.

Gotta be four webs for a bargain like that!
