Background

This book is one of a set of four "wavy-cut" book by Bendon produced late 2006/early 2007. The other three in the set are Spider-Man: Amazing Powers (Bendon), Spider-Man: Web-Slinging Super Hero (Bendon) and Spider-Man: Flying High (Bendon). They are all branded "Spider Sense Spider-Man", a logo which Bendon has used on a few other coloring/activity books.

All four books in the set feature six leaves of heavy card (outer front cover, outer back cover, plus ten inner pages). Strangely, "Flying High" is slightly larger than the others. It is 9.5" x 6" while all the other three are 8.5" x 5". Other than that, they're all very similar in style.

Note that all four books in the series have the same ISBN.

Story Details

"While on a high school field trip, Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider. Discovering that he had many spider-like powers, he became the Amazing Spider-Man."

Ah, there's the one-page introduction we were missing from the other stories!

On the remaining four pages, this book tells us about Spider-Man's ability to swing high above the city, avoid traffic, and protect the city whenever any trouble turns up.

General Comments

There's no villain in this book - just Spidey and his webs. That makes it rather a disappointment as a standalone tale. Given that there's only five pages and it would take less than 20 seconds to read to your average kid, I would consider this book a bit of an intro to the others.

Overall Rating

No villain, nothing but exposition really. Got to call this one a slightly flat two-and-a-half webs.
