Background

In the recent Media Blizzard storyline, the ever-cryptic Mysterio teamed up with a newcomer named Armada to destroy Spider-Man and get rich. Spidey, being Spidey, thwarted the fiendish plot, leaving Mysterio and Armada with a bit of a grudge against the wall-crawler. Now, they attempt to extract their revenge!

Story 'Bug Story'

This is a fun book. Entitled Toy Wars on the cover, Ben spends much of this issue battling toys of all kinds, ranging from Pinky and the Brain dolls, to model Sentinels. An interesting twist to this book is that Spidey has no clue as to what's happening until about halfway through. Turns out he's been shrunken (or so he's led to believe) and trapped in a toddler's room. He doesn't remember how he got there, or how he got shrunken.

Also this issue...the return of the fishbowl! Remember Mysterio's new costume, with the green smoke replacing his trademark bubble? Now, the bubble's back, and the green smoke drifts around it. Cool costume. You wanna find out what ol' Mysterio and Armada did to Spidey, and what Spidey did to the villains? Buy the comic! (Tee hee)

This comic was brought to us by Tom DeFalco, Mark Bagley and Larry Mahlstedt.

General Comments

Yeah, it's a fun book. The art is good, the return of Mysterio is welcome, as is Armada's return (they make a good team). However, this story offers nothing outstanding and enlightening regarding the Spider-Skeleton or Gaunt's identity and motives. Sometimes you just wish they'd finish off one storyline before they start a whole new one.
