Peter Parker: Spider-Man (Vol. 2) #46

Background

Last issue, Flash Thompson was critically injured in an accident orchestrated by Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin. This issue, the nightmare continues for Peter Parker.

Story Details

The issue opens with Peter sitting in his apartment in the rain, looking over photographs of his loved ones. The pictures, along with a small jack- o'-lantern, were dropped off by the Green Goblin as a not-too-subtle threat. Meanwhile, at Osborn Industries, Norman Osborn is trying to avoid a lawsuit after Flash Thompson crashed one of Osborn's trucks into Midtown High.

The next day, Peter arrives at Midtown High to teach, only to find Osborn there. In an effort to smooth things over with the school, Osborn has offered to pay for any damages they incurred. Peter and Norman get into an argument, and when they're away from the rest of the faculty, they arrange to finish things once and for all that night at one of Osborn's warehouses.

On his way to meet the Goblin, Spider-Man stops in to see Flash Thompson at the hospital. Flash is unconscious, but Spidey tells him that what happened isn't his fault, and he promises that he'll take care of things for both of them.

Spidey arrives at the warehouse to find the Goblin waiting for him, and Spidey attacks. They battle, but when Spidey mentions Osborn's grandson, he stops for a moment. Osborn says that the boy is no longer of any use to him, and that he's going to put an end to him. Spider-Man replies, "I'll kill you."

General Comments

two. The story by Paul Jenkins was solid, if unspectacular, but I found the art weak. I've really enjoyed Humberto Ramos' work in the last two issues, but I found that the pencils in this issue seemed rushed in some parts.

I continue to enjoy this story arc, though, and I eagerly await the next issue.
