Marvel Vision "Spider-Man" Mini-Magazine

This is one of a set of four promo "mini-comics" for the 1996 Fleer/Skybox "Marvel Vision" Trading Card set.

Story Details

This "mini-comic" is technically more of a pamphlet, since it isn't stapled.

When folded, it is 2.5" x 3.5". It unfolds sideways to be 10" x 3.5" double-sided. The content is mostly promotional material for the "Marvel Vision" trading card set. That was a 100-card set produced in 1996 by Fleer/Skybox as a tie-in to the four different animated TV cartoon series that were running around that time on the FOX Network. The cards were in four different styles, 25 for Spider-Man, 25 for Iron Man, 25 for Fantastic Four, and 25 for X-Men.

According to the information on this pamphlet, the cards were "3D Embossed". Each one featured a trivia question, the answer for which could be read with a special "decoder" card which was randomly inserted into packs.

As well as describing the card set, each of the four promo pamphlets featured a puzzle. The Spider-Man puzzle requires you to unscramble some words, then place them into a crossword-style grid. The answers to the Spider-Man puzzle are actually printed in the "Fantastic Four" promo pamphlet.

General Comments

This is a cute little collectible promo for the Spider-Man completest. My copies were quite cheap on eBay. While there's no actual Spider-Man story, this is definitely a "Spider-Man Promo Comic" by most definitions.

It is exactly what it is. An attractive, well-designed promotional item. Three and a half webs.
