Captain America and Sharon Carter (agent of SHIELD) bust up some high tech terrorists who have taken people hostage inside the statue of liberty. But it's all a distraction while Flag Smasher blows up the presidential heads at Mount Rushmore.
The whole concept is ludicrous. The "distraction" does nothing but provide clues to lead the heroes to Mount Rushmore in order to stop Flag-Smasher. And all the characters are nothing but embarrassingly shallow pastiches. This kind of thing would be humiliating if the Americans had written it themselves, but seeing this kind of thing scripted by a Brit is downright death-by-embarrassment.
General Comments
The second story is facile and puerile. I would also say febrile and sterile, but those words don't make any sense in this context. Actually, the second story doesn't make any sense in any context, so maybe I could get away with it.
