Lee Publications (no relation to Stan) have been producing these "Magic Pen" books for years and years. Here's another Marvel version, using the same well-known format.
Like those that came before, this book is 5.5" x 8", top-stapled. It contains 24 single-sided sheets/pictures. The pages are perforated at the top for easy tear-out.
The pages are all "Magic Pen" illustrations. These involve pages that are printed with "Leuco dye" chemicals, that have no color until they come into contact with the chemical that is contained in the magic pen. It's the visual equivalent of auto-tuning.
Spider-Man is not at all the star of this product — he doesn't even appear on the cover. But he does turn up in three of the pictures, which is why this book is in our database.
Lee Publications knows their stuff. They have a formula that works, and they simply turn the handle. This books is no exception.
The only truly notable point about this latest offering is the price — it sells for $7 at the stores and at Amazon. That's a pretty hefty jump from previous examples, and it sure seems rather expensive for a mere 24 half-sized pictures that can only be used once.
The same old stuff for a brand-new price. These books have always been fun, but they do need to be careful not to price themselves out of the market.
