Background

This is a 4-issue limited series starring the Avengers, including Spider-Man.

Story Details

In this issue: Pietro Maximoff (Quicksilver) runs in super-quick time from Japan to the Avengers headquarters in U.S. to announce the urgent news that he and his sister (Scarlet Witch) have found a secret Hydra base.

[He would have used his radio, but he was concerned that "communications spectra were being monitored", which is stupid, because he could have just run to a nearby city, or used a secure channel.]

The Avengers (Hulk, Iron Man, Black Widow, Spider-Man, Hawkeye, and Captain America) fly a Quinjet to Japan, fight their way easily to the lowest level, and discover an activated but stable time portal in the basement.

There's also a running "sub-plot" where Hawkeye and Spider-Man argue about which is the best burger chain - Five Guys or In-And-Out.

General Comments

That's all you get for you $3.99 these days kids. "Issue #1 ... the heroes find a time portal."

Look, I don't want to come across like a grumpy old man -- but when I was a kid, we'd have reached this point in the story somewhere at the bottom of page 3.

They don't even step through and see what's on the other side! You have to check out the "next issue" teaser to see the Dinosaurs. (SPOILER ALERT - the portal goes back in time).

The art (by "Mast", Geoffo", and Carmine Di Giandomenico) is pretty scruffy too.

Overall Rating

Look, at least these guys are making MY job easy!

A comic like this takes two minutes to read, and only slightly longer to type the review into the web-site.

Two minutes of reading. Two webs rating.
