Marvel Team Up #7 is the last issue of this comic to feature Spider-Man as the headline character. All-in-all, this seven issue run can be best described as uneven. Issues #2, #3, #5 and #7 were very good, but issues #1, #4 and #6 were very, very bad!
Though I don't think that the Spider fans are going to mourn the loss of MTU, I see it as a lost opportunity for the Spider books. This is the second time that Marvel has tried to revive a Marvel Team Up book with Spidey as the star, and both times have proven not to have anywhere near the staying power posessed by the original 150 issue series.
It makes me think that maybe the people at Marvel just don't have the knack anymore. Even though this book had Glen Greenberg as Assistant Editor, Tom Brevoort as Editor and Pat Olliffe as artist for the first two issues, it did not prove to be a worthy successor to Untold Tales of Spider-Man.
Perhaps the only collectable issue in this series is MTU #3, because of the turning point in the relationship between Spidey and the Sandman. Other than that, my guess is that these books will collect dust for a while, until they finally end up as brightly-colored land-fill.
