With all the commotion over the "Turn off the Dark" Spider-Man Musical, there's a little guerilla-style theater production that may have slipped under the radar. Entitled "The Spidey Project: With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility", this was the creation of "The People's Improv Theater", aka "The PIT".
This super-talented team of Spidey fans aimed to write, cast, and rehearse an entire musical within 31 days on a budget of zero dollars. Incredibly, they succeeded, and the show ran two performances from 14th March 2011 at the People's Improv Theatre in New York City. That gives them the honor of being the first Spider-Man Musical to open in New York!
Both shows were completely sold-out and got great reviews. Now they're in the process of finishing an album recording of all the songs, and they'll perform at the NY ComiCon in October.
You can view the show and see the official program at the official Spidey Project Blog.
