Last issue Steve Rogers the original Captain America was reunited with the New Avengers. The reunion was cut short with news that H.A.M.M.E.R. lead by Norman Osborn has invaded Asgard.
We see The New Avengers and the Secret Warriors fighting H.A.M.M.E.R. and the Dark Avengers. Luke Cage gets launched away from the battle by Norman Osborn. Flashback to yesterday and Luke is talking to his wife Jessica. Luke tells her that things are starting to turn around, Steve’s back and now it’s time for Osborn to be brought to justice. They discuss Jessica coming out of retirement but agree now is not time. Luke tells her he’s tired of being underground, he just wants to an Avenger for real and be able to take his baby girl for a walk in the park. Back in the present Cage is fighting Venom, when The Hood arrives with his crew to help Osborn. Ronin and Mockingbird lead the charge against them. Flashback to yesterday again and we see that Bobbi can’t sleep so she decides to go on patrol, Clint follows. While on patrol they run into Lady Octopus who’s robbing a nearby building. The duo takes her down and hand her over to the police. Clint tells Bobbi now that Cap’s back they’re going to get through this, besides things could be worse, she could be a female Dr. Octopus. He also tells her that after this business with Osborn is over they can have a fresh start. Back in the present Bobbi takes out Razorfist and smiles at Clint.
Suddenly The Sentry flies into Asgard and causes it to crash into the ground. Thor and the Asgardians look on in horror. Clint sees Bobbi’s arm under some rubble.
With most of the core story in Siege issues 1 - 4 Bendis has taken this issue to fill in a few blanks. There are a few nice character moments and a rare appearance of Lady Octopus, who I'm sure I haven't seen in 10 years!
The art is solid and the story reads well. Again another continuity blip, I was under the impression that Cap was reunited with The new Avengers, saw the news and gathered everyone he could and went to Asgard, not saw the news let everyone have a nights rest, (as per the flashbacks) then go to Asgard.
Good issue but just a bit too filler for my liking.
