Background

This is one of a batch of various Marvel Heroes and Spider-Man sticker books that came out around this time. DK does a lot of pop-culture books... Batman, Star Wars, whatever, so it's no surprise that they included some Marvel goodies in their range.

This book came out a few months after the Spider-Man: Glow in the Dark Sticker Book (DK). The format is the same, just the characters are different.

Story Details

Just like its Spider-Man sibling, the Marvel Heroes "Glow in the Dark Sticker Book" is 8.5" x 10.75", soft card cover with an original list price of US $7. Just as for Spidey, there are 4 pages of stickers, 4 pages blank reverse of sticker pages, and 8 pages of actual content including scenes for sticking your sticky stickers.

On the sticker side of things, there are 60 or 70 stickers overall, featuring Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Hulk, Wolverine, Thor, Venom, Elektra, and various assorted villains. Basically a typical sample of the Marvel property range.

Just like the Spidey book, the artwork and production quality is very high. The paper stock is good, the stickers are detailed, and they do indeed glow in the dark! At least, the border outline of the stickers glows. You can't see the artwork in the dark, but you can probably recognize your favorite characters from the outlines.

The text is rather cursory, but mostly harmless. The Spider-Man profile is as follows: "Orphan Peter Parker developed incredible spider-like after being bitten by a radioactive spider. He is now the Amazing Spider-Man!"

General Comments

At US$7 list price, this feels like a rather slim volume for the money when you pick it up. But then again... can you really ask a Marvel fan to put a price tag on glow-in-the-dark stickers?

Overall Rating

A high-quality production, with a major "cool" factor. Worth the price tag. Four webs.
