Background

Cartoonist Chris Giarrusso has been penning Mini Marvel stories for years. They are (usually) short adventures of the Marvel superheroes done up as, well little kids in costume. They are as a rule, falling-down funny.

Story 'Mini Marvels'

  Marvel Adventures Spider-Man #14 (Story 2)
Summary: Mini Marvel Spider-Man appears
Editor: Mark Paniccia
Writer: Chris Garrusso
Artist: Chris Garrusso

Spidey, Thing, and The Human Torch are trying to watch a baseball game on TV.

General Comments

Spider-Man, The Thing and The Human Torch are sitting down to watch the Yankees on TV (odd, as it has been well established that Peter is a Mets fan, but as it is still a NY team, and he is among friends, it is, perhaps, understandable). The Black Cat shows up, only the boys toss her out because they are afraid that her bad luck powers will cause the Yanks to lose, so they shoo her away.

The game goes to the bottom of the ninth, and the Yanks are winning, when suddenly a member of the other team (which is at bat) hits a Grand Slam Home Run, and the Yanks lose. Shocked the Mini Heroes look around for the Cat, sure that she somehow jinxed their team. It is then that Spidey spots her, at the game, and the "fan" that caught the Home Run ball.

Overall Rating

No explanation necessary. Shorts like this that lampoon our favorite heroes are always welcome, especially considering the serious nature of the on-going Civil War event.
