The New Adventures of Spider-Man, or "The Spider-Man MTV Cartoon" was the first CGI-animated Spider-Man cartoon series. It followed only a few years after the ill-fated Spider-Man Unlimited (TV) cartoon, but was significantly different in many ways. It rebooted Spider-Man on TV for the teen audience, in a similar way to how Ultimate Spider-Man rebooted the comic series.
The analogy is not accidental, since Ultimate Spider-Man writer Brian Michael Bendis was Executive Producer on the TV show. However, while the comic book went on to run for ten years, the MTV show was fated to last only a single season of 13 episodes. Despite reasonable reviews, the show shared the same fate as its short-lived predecessor.
This series is still generally available on commercial DVD.
