Story 'Inside Man!'

Marvel Heroes (UK Magazine) #27 (Story 2)
Summary: Iron Man
Publisher: Panini Magazines
Writer: Ferg Handley
Pencils: Kev Hopgood
Inker: Lee Townsend

As you may recall from Part One, businessman Tony Stark was inspecting the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier at the very moment that it was captured from dry-dock as it underwent repairs.

Of course we know what the public does not, i.e. that Mr. Stark is also Iron Man. Conveniently, Tony happened to be secretly carrying a briefcase that contains his Iron Man outfit (there's some fancy packing skills). Inconveniently, the force field that was keeping S.H.I.E.L.D. out of the carrier was also disabling his armor. However, as we saw in the first half, Captain America's team eventually disables the force field, allowing Stark to become Iron Man and enter the fray.

Something is blocking Iron Man's communication systems, so he uses "triangulation tech to locate the source". The source is the command center. Yeah, that would have been a good guess too. The villain is "Count Nefaria".

Iron Man fights Nefaria and wins, despite Nefaria wielding alien "Makluan" technology. So Nefaria goes to grab the big guns, a disintegrator cannon. But a simple blast from Iron Man not only destroys the cannon, but triggers a chain reaction that detonates the entire alien arsenal while magically leaving the carrier basically intact. So much for alien super-tech, eh?

S.H.I.E.L.D. arrives shortly after, with Captain America in the lead, entirely unscathed from his heroic sacrifice (see last issue). In fact the rest of his squad is there too (also unharmed), but now instead of being angry at Cap (see preceding story), his team has turned into a bunch of crawling butt-kissers.

Iron Man is now Tony Stark once more, but Cap rightly suspects that Mr. Stark had a lot more to do with Nefaria's defeat than he is admitting in public.

General Comments

Basically, Captain America fights Nefaria and wins. All the super alien tech isn't worth doo-doo.

Overall Rating

Meh. Nothing special here. Two webs.
