Comics : Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #433

Background...

The large reward on Spidey's head is still up for grabs since last month's Spider-Hunt, and it's getting really dang hard to step outside in a webbed suit. Also, Joe Robertson has resigned his post as editor in chief for the Daily Bugle.

Meanwhile, in the Incredible Hulk #458, the nefarious Mr. Hyde battled the Hulk, and is now in New York City.

Apr 1998 : SMURF 433.500 : SM Title : Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1)
Characters: Green Goblin IV (Phil Urich), J. Jonah Jameson, Mary Jane Watson-Parker, Joseph

This issue emphasizes the impact of Robbie's resignation on the rest of the Bugle staff, and features a pretty decent fight between Mr. Hyde and Peter, who is forced to fight out of costume. As an extra little gift, Phil Urich and Dante Fortunato (we all read issue #-1, right?) show briefly. Besides that, though, there isn't a whole lot to this book, as the Spider-verse warms up for Identity Crisis.

In General...

Tom Lyle's triumphant return is welcomed, although the detail and background seemed missing on a number of pages. DeFalco's scripting, although light, deals well with an intelligent brute, which is not often done within these pages. If this book had any kind of purpose or underlying plotline, it could have been good.

Overall Rating...

2.5 webs
