Outside The Avengers mansion protestors are still upset after the events of Fear Itself, blaming The Avengers for the damage that was done during the attack. Jessica Jones and Squirrel Girl are leaving the mansion when they are attacked by the angry mob and are forced to run away. Meanwhile the New Avengers realise Raganork isn’t Thor when he attacks them. During the battle Wolverine does the most damage and is nearly killed by Raganork but is saved by Luke Cage. Spidey decides to try fighting Raganork but then sends Iron Fist in. One Iron Fist later and Raganork is defeated.
Across the city Osborn’s team of Avengers can see the flashes of lightning. Trickshot tells them they should finish The New Avengers off but Osborn asks Skaar to explain why they shouldn’t. Skaar tells them that if they go and hunt The New Avengers down after defeating them in public they will make them martyrs and hurt their own reputation in the process. Trickshot disagrees so Osborn forcefully calms him down. While The New Avengers are leaving then drop the remains of Raganork at Osborn’s feet. Osborn smiles as they fly away.
When the team arrives back at the mansion it is being seized by the federal government.
The main part off the issue is dedicated to the brawl between the team and Ragnarok. Deodato bring his A game as usual and the fight is quite brutal. I do like how Spidey knows he's out of his league and sents in Iron Fist instead. It's nice touches like that that make me appriciate Bendis' writting.
After Osborn's team beat up The New Avengers he decided to play the P.R. game and not follow up in public. This new Osborn appears to have his demons under control and is much more calculating that he used to be, which if he can control himself he could be a threat to The Avengers for years to come.
Solid 3 webs. Art, story and direction are on track to establishing Osborn and a major player in the Marvel Universe. Just don't have him become the new Venom and I'm happy.
