Review

This issue starts with Squirrel Girl being interviewed. She talks about how she’s not an actually an Avenger but the nanny to Danielle Cage, Daughter to Luke and Jessica. She also mentions that there is always something happening. Earlier we see the team watch Wolverine and Ironfist sparing. At first Ironfist has the advantage, this quickly shirts to Wolverine and then back to Ironfist. In the end Wolverine knocks Ironfist down. Wolverine says that was him at about a 6, Ironfist says he was at a 3. Wolverine then challenges Squirrel Girl who quickly knocks down Wolverine. A she is gloating Wolverine gets her in an arm lock and tells her never to turn her back in a fight. She uses her powers to summon dozens squirrels and Wolverine lets her go.

Back in the interview Squirrel Girl talks about her life and how she’s studying at N.Y.U. After one of her classes Squirrel Girl saves a woman from two thugs and asks if she is ok. The woman replies “Is-- Is that normal?” Squirrel Girl looks around and sees hundreds of Nazi mechs flying over the city. Back in the interview and she says her first thought was for the baby. We see her fight her way to the mansion and meet up with The Avengers. Before the team leaves Jessica asks her if she remembers the emergency scenario, Squirrel Girl tells her to go. After the team has left the mansion is attacked by the mechs.

In General...

Great tie-in issue from New Avengers this month. I've always wondered who would win in a fight between Iron Fist and Wolverine but I thought Iron Fist would win as he's a dedicated martial arts expert.

As usual Deodato's is the highlight of the book and Bendis is, as usual on point with the team banter.

Overall Rating...

Solid stuff from the creative team. More action and less decrompression would be great but as Marvel insist on "writting for trade" I don't think this will change for a while.
