Comics : Civil War Poster Book

Background...

I've just written a review for the Spider-Man Poster Book (2007). I can't imagine that this one is going to be much different.

Magazine sized book, with centrefold double-sized posters. I counted 18 posters each double-sided, making 36 posters to choose from. Nice glossy paper same as the Spider-Man poster book.

All of the art is from Civil War comics, nearly all is cover art, though I think there's some interior art, I'm not entirely sure. It's all great art, top-rate stuff. Of course, there's a lot to choose from with all those variant covers!

The artists and the sources are all fully credited.

In General...

As with the Spider-Man book, my primary objection is that since I don't intend to dismantle this book, I lose nearly all the effect, since I see each poster only in halves. At $6 this is a pretty cheap way to present these in a biggish size. But I think I would have happily paid $20 to get a hardcover book with one comic per page that at least I could have enjoyed the complete image.

Still, that's not what this book is about. It's a poster book. Buy it, rip it apart, and cover the walls of your college dorm. I dare ya!

Overall Rating...

Great art, great price. Extra half web for including all the sources for the covers.
