Writer:  Alan Kistler

Inside are 826 questions split into the following categories:

  • The Web-Slinger Himself
  • The Allies
  • The Villains
  • The Settings
  • Dailies, Comics, and Books
  • Film, TV, and Videogames
  • Alternate Timelines and Parallel Universes
  • The Creators
  • Spider-Man Miscellany

The questions are broken into sub-sections each containing a handful of questions on a specific topic. Some offer multi-choice answers, some require you to fill out a specific response.

In General...

The questions are varied, accurate, and often rather tricky! I've read pretty much every Spider-Man comic and novel, and I've seen every movie. I've read countless creator biographies and "history of comics" books. I still reckon I would score maybe 50% on this test, tops.

Example (slightly paraphrased) question: "The Avengers Initiative featured a trio of Scarlet Spiders who were clones of a popular Spider-Man related character. How many of them are still alive now?"

This is hardcore stuff! You'll need to have seen every cartoon series, read every tie-in and reference, and have an eidetic memory to recall every answer to these questions. Alan Kistler's research is impeccable, and somewhat frightening.

Overall Rating...

Nobody is going to answer all of this stuff correctly. Each question is targeted to a different sector of the Spider-Man fan community. But just because I don't know what children's melody Spider-Man used for his ring tone in the TV show Spectacular Spider-Man TV (2008) doesn't mean that there aren't plenty of people out there who do know the answer!

In the end, this book is fun, and varied. I give it four webs.
