Background

Cardiac is a man on a mission of vengeance. His original objective was to destroy Sapirdyne Chemicals, the company responsible for the death of his younger brother. Now he fights to destroy all those who would profit from injustice and the despair of others.

Years in the past, Elias' brother contracted a rare disease and died. This, in spite of the spectre of hope given by various experimental treatments - treatments which were denied, as medical insurance companies refused to pay for possible cures which they considered as "not cost-effective".

Elias Wirtham then dedicated his life to medical research - but this was not enough. With the aid of close colleagues, he had his own heart replaced with a beta-particle reactor, and his skin replaced with a vibranium mesh alloy which allows him to focus the energy the reactor provides - and to use that power to seek justice for all those who have been denied it.

Recently, Cardiac decided to destroy a tainted drug shipment, only to encounter Spider-Man. After a battle, Cardiac suceeded in destroying the shipment and left a wounded Spider-Man to his fate.
