Cards : 2004 Marvel vs. System

This is a trading card game by Upper Deck Entertainment. It's part of the "vs. System" series of games, which use a common rule system across different marketing streams. The one mentioned here is the "Marvel vs. System". You can also purchase "DC vs. System" cards, and you can mix-and-match, if that's what you and your opponent agree to do.

Within the Marvel stream there are many different cards. You can purchase pre-configured "starter" decks of 40 cards each, chosing from "Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock", "X-Men vs. Brotherhood of Evil Mutants", and possibly others. Naturally, you will then start buying massively over-priced "booster packs" and begin making your own custom 60-card decks.

The cards are pleasant enough, but personally I didn't find the game that much fun to play, and I haven't been tempted to collect a compete set. Here's just a few of the cards I got in the "Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock" starter set.

Some cards are (deliberately) more rare than others. I'm not going to bother trying to acquire all the cards, but here's the two holo-foil cards
Here's the Spider-Man card. It's a holo-foil card, naturally.
Here's the Doc Ock card. It's also holo-foil. Actually it's a silver color, despite how the scan came out.
Here's some packaging.

Here's the box for the "Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock" starter pack.
The starter pack also includes a play-mat (not shown), and this basic rule book.
