Better Read : Good Night, Knights (11-Oct)

Better Read? Well, not really. Marvel Knights is on the way out. I've collected the first dozen or so issues, based on market hype, and a former appreciation of Chuck Dixon. Well, sorry Chuck, but issue #15 is where I bail.

Sep 2001 : No Spidey

Why? It's just unconvicing. Sure, I love all the characters. The idea of taking a bunch of solo characters and teaming them up is a nice one. It's like the Defenders - the greatest super-team that never was.

But like all comics, the idea is just the beginning. The real moment of truth is the story, and Marvel Knights really doesn't deliver in that department. Plenty happens, but it's hard to care. Epic tales of Nightmare, Supremely powerful overlords, hordes of near-invincible robots, and a constant struggle to keep the 'team' together... ho hum... seen it before. Very pretty, and a lots of potential, but sadly, it just doesn't captivate.
